This application provides interactive snow cover data of the Indus basin and sub-basin wise statistics which are important for the study of snow budget for agriculture, water-based industries, environment, land management, water supplies, and many other uses.
The tool shows the spatial coverage of snow cover data for the Indus River basin as well as its sub-basins. It also provides statistics on the maximum and minimum snow cover area as well as the permanent snow-covered area of the Indus basin for the period from 2002 and 2018.
The dataset was developed by Muhammad and Thapa (2019) for high-mountain Asia (HMA) between 2002 and 2018. The final product has a combination of snow and glaciers created by merging Randolph Glacier Inventory version 6.0 (RGI 6.0) separated as debris-covered and debris-free with the snow product (MOYDGL06*) developed from the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) onboard Terra and Aqua satellites 8-day composite snow cover Collection 6 (C6) products.
